New articles: knee injuries, Cultural Olympiad, and the Crutchmaster

posted Apr 3, 2010 9:57 AM by Gail Johnson

Hello!

I've added a few new articles to my site from the Georgia Straight newspaper and alive magazine. For more, please click on the websites and type in my name under Search.

I continue to blog regularly at Anecdotes From a Modern Mom.

All this while caring for two boys with very bad colds, boys who still want to paint Easter eggs, play with cars, and pretend to be dinosaurs.

Keeping the site up-to-date...or not

Hello!

Perhaps you have visited this site before and are back now looking for something new. Or maybe you've just noticed my web address for the first time and wanted to check out the site to glance at some recent writing samples.

In case you haven't noticed, it's been a little while since I've updated this sucker. That's because I'm focusing on my real work! (That would be raising two boys, freelance writing and editing, and teaching fitness classes.)

So please, do me a favour, and don't write me off, or my site for that matter. I will update it as often as I can, I swear.

In the meantime, if you're looking for my most recent articles aside from what you see after clicking on the column to the left, please visit the web sites of the Georgia Straight newspaper and alive magazine, for starters. You can read my mommy blog on the website of blush, a beautiful Canadian magazine for moms and moms-to-be. I have articles in the magazine itself as well; it comes out four times a year and you can find out where on the blush site. Or send me an e-mail directly and test my knowledge, humour, and insight, or lack thereof.

Thanks.

Top 20 Under 20: I'm excited to have contributed articles to this package!

Happy to Join the YWCA Health + Fitness Centre!

It's official! I'm part of the personal-training team at Vancouver's YWCA Health + Fitness Centre, a beautiful facility in the heart of downtown complete with an ozonated pool.

This is an outstanding gym, and I'm not just saying that because I train and volunteer there. It's what sparked my passion for fitness in the first place. Not only is the facility huge, with tons of great equipment and classes on offer, it's also a very welcoming, positive environment.

Check out an article of mine in Fairmont Magazine

Staying at a Fairmont hotel anytime soon?

The international hotel chain has a beautiful magazine that's as classy as the empire's resorts.

I have a story in the latest issue about sleep: how to get some (aside from staying at a luxury hotel) and why it might be eluding you.

To Clear Up Any Confusion...

After I launched my site, I heard back from many of you: thanks! It's always great to hear from you.

In case the site threw anyone off, let me make it clear that:

a) yes, I still work for the Georgia Straight newspaper. I write a weekly health column and contribute as an associate editor.

b) yes, blush magazine is still a go! I blog regularly on the blush website, and issue 2 is scheduled to come out in September.

That said, I'm still available for freelance writing and editing as well as personal training.

Thanks for your support.

Gail Johnson Is for Hire!

Hello!

Welcome to my website.

Now that I'm a freelancer, I decided it was time to have my own site. If you know anyone who's looking to hire a writer, editor, or personal trainer (or even a combination of those three; anyone need a physically fit journalist?), please send them my way!

Why hire me?

As a writer, I guarantee that I will deliver consistently clean, compelling, accurate, informative, interesting copy on-time. I never miss a deadline, and I'm as versatile as I am reliable: I've written everything from health articles to restaurant reviews to breaking-news stories for daily, weekly, and monthly publications as well as widely read websites.

A fitness enthusiast, I pursued personal training after years of teaching group-exercise classes because of the extremely positive feedback I was getting from participants. My passion for physical fitness is obvious and infectious.

Thanks for your support.

Gail
